THE DEN10: MARCH 23

Alyssa Stevenson March 23, 2016

Daylight savings time is a big slap in the face to anyone who can count the number of actual hours of daylight we’ve got. At any rate, now you’ve got “more time” to get in awesome pictures of a sunset over the square or your smoothie. Trust us, we love it all. Hashtag #WDDI and all that jazz.

If you have events, questions or just want to talk about zany politics shoot Glen Farris an email at glen@wedentondoit.com.

DEN10: MARCH 2ND 2016

Alyssa Stevenson March 2, 2016

Democracy! Hooray! Now that the primaries are behind us (sort of) we can start talking about the upcoming City At-Large election. Well, maybe we’ll wait a little bit but not before inviting the entire city of Denton to Greg Johnson’s Campaign Launch Party at Barley & Board, March 3rd from 6-8PM. Between the joint city election and the runoff between Stucky and King, we’ll have some cool political content to keep everyone up to date on the local goings on.

Alyssa Stevenson February 24, 2016

Well, here we are again. On the precipice of another weekend. Welcome to Denton, where everyones got an opinion and a blog. Hashtag your hashtags with #WDDI and we’ll pick the most compelling of your pictures to be featured in our weekly Monday post. You know the drill!

Comments, questions, and friend requests can be sent to glen@wedentondoit.com

THE DEN10: FEBRUARY 10TH 2016

Alyssa Stevenson February 10, 2016

As you find your self staring down the barrel of another Valentines Day, consider these events for your weekend plans. All of them have been painstakingly hand-picked for quality and diversity. The most important event this coming week is the 64th House District Republican Primary Debate we’re hosting at Dan’s Silverleaf on Monday at 7PM. City councilman Kevin Roden will moderate and Glen Farris will keep time. This is a pretty unique event as it is possibly the only debate for the state level position that is open to the public (with access to beer, no less). The event will be live-streamed and we encourage you to come out and check out the candidates, one of which will most likely take the HD64 seat. Take your photos and get in the know, y'all.

Questions, comments, and additions can be sent to glen@wedentondoit.com.

THE DEN10: FEBRUARY 3RD 2016

Alyssa Stevenson February 3, 2016

If you saw me rolling a bass speaker cabinet up to the square at about 10PM last night after Denton Pub Quiz Apocalypse I want to assure you that it seemed like a great idea at the bottom of the hill. But then again, there are a lot of things that seemed like a good idea post-apocalypse. The thing had wheels. At any rate, join us in two weeks for the same sorts of shenanigans and quizzings up at Dan’s Silverleaf, 7PM, free to play and there’s actual cash money prizes. Until then, check out the bounty of events our humble little village has to offer. Tag your photos #WDDI and get featured in the What We Did post on Monday.

Questions, comments, and pub quiz ideas may be directed towards glen@wedentondoit.com.

THE DEN10: JANUARY 20TH 2016

Some weeks we are unsure if events exist in Denton that are not music related; this is one of those weeks. We are damn fine with that, too. This is Denton after all, and by God there is great music here. What shows are you going to this weekend?

Email Sara all of your show tips & other event secrets: sara@wedentondoit.com

Did you know that Denton is listed in the Random House Dictionary? More importantly, the friendly folks at Spiderweb Salon are now taking submissions for their next zine, which will be a special one dedicated to Denton’s beloved Nick Thrasher. You can submit stories, photos, poems, letters and more. Submissions are due by February 1. Besides that bit of cool soon-to-be-print info, we have 10 solid events for you to check out this week.

If know about cool stuff going on, you really ought to share. I don’t bite. (email: sara@wedentondoit.com)
