It’s Dead Week, y’all. That doesn’t mean theres nothing to do because as usual there is plenty out there in our fair village to distract everyone from student to amateur politician. Get out there and snap some sweet photos and tag them #WDDI to be featured in our Monday’s post, What We Did.

With the local election underway this week, the number one event that you need to attend is to go vote. Locations are open at the Civic Center and the county elections office. It takes 5 minutes and there’s no excuse not to be involved in the closing of our cities leaders. This week they are open until 5pm. Check out the county site for more details on where and when to vote. We’ll bring you more election coverage as it unfolds. In other news, prepare yourselves this Friday for our FREE Outdoor Movie Night on the courthouse lawn featuring the Tim Burton classic, Edward Scissorhands. As always, tag your best 'grams with #WDDI to get featured on What We Did next Monday.
Also of note: The OC Burger at 508 S Elm (next to Bet The House BBQ) is now open and is giving away free beer to celebrate.

Last nights City Council meeting will go down in history as a lesson in Robert’s Rules of Order, Democracy and citizen engagement. Whether or not you felt the smoking ban vote went your way or not, the footage will be studied by political wonks for years to come as an example of the way a city does business. It's as interesting as this weeks "top ten" list. We've got a little Arts & Jazz Fest happening this weekend and Early Voting starting on Saturday. Make democracy count and get out there, vote and hashtag your grams.

Here we go, drinking from the fire hose again. There’s more than enough stuff to get into this week. Notably, it’s one of our most beloved festivals this Saturday - the Redbud Fest - complete with the popular Fashion Trashion Show, live music, and a general enthusiasm for nature. There will for sure be a ton of competition with the #WDDI's this week to get featured in our Monday post so get out there and gram the gramable moments of your lives!

Another list of ten things to get out and do this week. Last week was such a barn burner, it will be hard to repeat, but we can at least try. As always, tag your photos #WDDI to get featured in our What We Did post on Monday.

This week marks the launch of the city council campaign season and we’ve been busy attending events like the Denia Neighborhood Forum and Kevin Roden’s Campaign Launch party. If you haven’t been paying attention, it’s time to hit up VoteDenton.Org and check out the candidates and find out district you're in (if you don't already know). Your single vote (out of roughly 1,200 in a district seat race), is the most powerful vote you’ll cast in comparison to state or national elections. At any rate, get involved and get active in the future of your city. This election is another important one. As usual, we’ve picked out ten events we think you should attend this week. Get out there, snap some grams and hashtag #WDDI to get featured in our Monday’s, What We Did post.

March in Denton is quite a time. The winter is finally retreating back into it’s cold icy cave, Spring is bursting from the seams and with it comes all the festivals, Spring Breaks and trips to Austin. We’re here to get you started in the right direction and this week our recommendation is to get to the square and see what 35Denton has to offer this year. It’s a scaled down version of what it’s been in the past but it’s still got it’s offerings of local and national talent and in a lot of ways, is what we longed for in festivals past: a chance to find our next favorite band. We want to see all the #WDDI’s we can get also for use in our Monday’s What We Did post. So get your device and hashtags ready.

Ice day’s just aren’t the same as when we were younger. Sure, sleeping in a little because you're trapped sure ain’t bad, but a few hours after you’ve organized the kitchen pantry it starts to set in that there's serious work to do. Work that you actually sort of miss doing. Work that allows you to take part in all the other neat things our city offers like Mini Akon 8 which is happening this week. There’s also Service Industry and Muddy Jakes that both should be open for business this week. Go check out those places and if you know what’s good for you, you'll try the chicken and waffles from Service Industry.

It’s basically Thin Line week in Denton, TX so grab your passes and go check out what they’ve got to offer. Looks like there’s plenty of films and music to get into and you really don’t want to miss tonight's opening event with the southwest premier of the Midlake documentary that Jason Lee and Eric Noren shot last year at Dan’s Silverleaf. There will be tons of good opportunities to tag your photos #WDDI this week so get to it!
